This brand new Tesla Model X came to us for our flagship paint correction and coating application. We did a 2-3 step paint correction to remove swirls and wash marks, finish down to a high gloss finish, and then coated the paint with Gtechniq Crystal Serum, our pro grade ceramic coating.
The multi coat red Tesla Model X looked pretty good after we washed it. But under the right light it was evident that we were able to make quite a contribution to the appearance of this paint. By boosting exposure, it makes it easier to see in pictures the types of defects that we spot under high intensity lighting.

More before and afters.
Something worth pointing out is that the removal of major defects leaves behind a fine haze that is easily concealed by wax, or even the light polishing oils that lubricate the paint correction process. In some cases it takes a deliberate effort to find this haze, using the right combination of wipe down products, and lighting.
So far, all of the before and after paint correction pictures I have shown here have not yet been finish polished. In the following two pictures, I have taped off half of this panel to show the difference between what initially appeared to be finished, and what is actually finished. I takes the right lighting and the right wipe down solution to spot these differences. In some cases is very difficult to spot unless you are looking very very closely. We sweat the small stuff and our end product benefits greatly!
After paint correction is complete, the entire car gets stripped down to remove any oils remaining on the paint corrected surface. We do one more visual inspection, and then start with coating.
Gtechniq Crystal Serum is applied as a liquid on a microfiber application pad. Within the first few seconds, a phase separation occurs in the coating. A more elastic component settles closer to the paint and bonds to the clear coat, whereas a hard component floats to the top providing scratch resistance and hydrophobic properties. The coating excess is wiped down promptly and the panel is inspected for any streaking.
As a rule of thumb, we want you to drop off a brand new car, then come back and still be blown away by the improvement. Although the coating does improve gloss, we believe that the paint correction is the most critical element to determine end product shine.
